Magnificent Griquas

GWK Griquas thrashed Boland Cavaliers in Kimberley by 80 points to 7, last Saturday in the third round of the Absa Currie Cup, thus keeping Griquas on top of the log with a full house of 15 points.

Jonathan Mokuena, Griqua captain, opened the score line for his team in the 4t minute , with Rohan Kitshoff, muscling his way over in the 18th minute. The third try came within the first 30 minutes of the match, when, after a clever run by Griquas centre, Barry Geel, he dotted down, Geel securing his second try, before the half time whistle to gain the home team their bonus point, and prop, Albertus Buckle scoring the last try of the first half, and with the score on 33 nil, giving Griquas a commanding lead.

GWK Griquas continued to apply the pressure in the second half, with Jacques Lombaard, Dewald Pretorius, Naas Olivier,Bjorn Basson, Wilmaure Louw, Basson’s  second try, with the final nail in the coffin coming from Kitshoff. The only points on the board coming the way of Boland, came in the 79th minute of the match, when Conrad Burke scored a try, converted by Elgar Watts, taking the final score on GWK Griquas 80 and Boland Cavaliers 7.
