Taking Rugby to the People

Gwk Griquas play against the Bulls in their opening Vodacom Cup fixture on Friday at AR Abass Stadium, kickoff at 5pm, Reigning and four-time Vodacom Cup champions Griquas start their title defence at the AR Abass Stadium in Kimberley on Friday at 17h00 when they host the Vodacom Blue Bulls in a repeat of last season’s final.

Playing at AR Abass Stadium meant taking the game to the people, where, although it is a home advantage for Griquas, both teams may find the going tough.

The 2010 edition of the Vodacom Cup will have an international flavour this year with the participation of teams from Argentina (Pampas XV) and Namibia (Welwitchias), with a total of 16 teams vieing for the R1 million winners prize, R500 000 for the winning team and R500,000 for the winning provincial union for rugby development, all thanks to SARU and Vodacom.

The Vodacom Cup kicks off on Friday at the newly built Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium when Eastern Province hosts the Pampas XV in Port Elizabeth at 19h10. This match will be broadcast live on SS6.
