GWK Griquas lost their opener 22-17, in front of a 500 strong crowd, after they led 17-11 at the break in defence of their Vodacom Cup title, played at the AR Abass Stadium, against the Blue Bulls, on Friday evening, while at the same time, taking the game of rugby to the people.
Griquas could not score any points in the second half, but a drop goal and a penalty from Bull’s Francois Brummer in the second half sealed the match for the visitors, but added to this Louis Boshoff, a drop and Okkie Kruger, arty in the last minute also saw Bulls just pipping Griquas at the post.
For Griquas, in the first half, tries were scored by stalwart, Albertus Buckle and new flyhalf for the home team, Coenie van Wyk, the latter scoring the rest of GWK Griqua’s points via the boot.
