GWK Griquas annihilated the Valke to the tune of 60 points to 12, in front of a crowd of 1500, played at the Barnard Stadium in Kempton Park, in the final round robin round, which has earned them a place in the quarter final of the Vodacom Cup, although, unfortunately not at home, next week end against the Sharks in Durban. For Griquas to have had a home quarter final they would have to have won by at least 91 points to squeeze out the Lions and claim second spot on the log.
Griquas ran in a total of 10 tries, after leading 31-12 at the break. Once again, Leon Karemaker was the star of the show, running in 3 tries, while the other try scorers were Andries Kruger 2, Wesley Wilkins, Rohan Kitshoff, Albertus Buckle, Bjorn Basson and Rocco Jansen. Logan Basson converted 4 of the tries, while Warren Malgas succeeded with one. For the Valke, who scored zero points in the second half, it was only Carlyle Hendricks scoring their 2 tries with Jacques George kicking over a single conversion, in the first half.
